Polyacrylamide is a linear polymer, the product is mainly divided into dry powder and colloidal two forms.



According to its average molecular weight, it can be divided into low molecular weight (<1 million), medium molecular weight (2 ~4 million) and high molecular weight (>.7 million).

According to its structure can be divided into non - ionic, anion and cationic.Water disintegration (HPAM) of anion type.

The main chain of polyacrylamide contains a large number of amide groups, with high chemical activity, and can be modified to produce many derivatives of polyacrylamide.

The products have been widely used in papermaking, mineral processing, oil extraction, metallurgy, building materials, sewage treatment and other industries.As a lubricant, suspension agent, clay stabilizer, oil displacement agent, water loss reducing agent and thickening agent,

polyacrylamide has been widely used in drilling, acidification, fracturing, water plugging, cementing, secondary oil recovery and tertiary oil recovery.


Use the feature

1.       Flocculation: PAM can neutralize suspended substances through electricity, bridge adsorption and play a role in flocculation.

2, adhesion: through mechanical, physical, chemical action, play the role of adhesion.

3. Resistance reduction: PAM can effectively reduce the frictional resistance of the fluid. Adding trace PAM to water can reduce the resistance by 50-80%.

4. Thickening: PAM can thicken under neutral and acid conditions. When the PH value is above 10, PAM is easy to hydrolyze.The thickening is more evident when the structure is semi-reticular.


The use of polyacrylamide should follow the following principles:

1. Granular polyacrylamide flocculant cannot be added directly to sewage.Before use, it must be dissolved in water and treated with its aqueous solution.

2. Water that dissolves granular polymers should be clean (such as tap water), not sewage.Normal temperature of the water can be, generally do not need to warm.When the water temperature is lower than 5℃, the solution is slow.

The dissolution rate is accelerated with the increase of water temperature, but the degradation of polymer will be accelerated above 40℃, which will affect the use effect.General tap water is suitable for preparing polymer solutions.Water with strong acids, strong bases and high salt content is not suitable for preparation.

3. The concentration of polymer solution is recommended to be 0.1%-0.3%, that is, 1g-3g polymer powder is added to 1 liter of water.
