A senior World Health Organization.orWHO, fficialhas wamed against using terms linking the novel coronavirus with ethniciyafter United States President DonaldTrump repeatedly used the phrase "Chinese viTus! in speeches and tweetsinthe past fewdays.
"Viruses know no borders, and they don't care your ethnicity or the color of your skin or howmuch money you have in the bank," Michael Ryan, executive director of the WHO healthemergencies program, told a news conference on Wednesday.
"It's really important that we be carefulinthelanguage we use lest it lead to profling ofindividuals associated witnthe virus,"Ryansaid.
